Killer Executed Without Telling Joke or Did He?

Patrick Knight had been collecting jokes in anticipation of his execution in Huntsville Texas for the crime of killing an Amarillo couple. He went out without delivering any of the jokes he had received. Knight received sometimes as many as 20 jokes a day through a website and the efficient U.S. Postal service. According to CNN he also got as many as 1,300 proposals.

When the time came, however, he thanked god for his friends and asked for help for innocent men on death row. He named several inmates he believes to be innocent.

Knight said: “I said I was going to tell a joke. Death has set me free. That’s the biggest joke. I deserve this.” But, more importantly, he said “And the other joke is that I am not Patrick Bryan Knight and y’all can’t stop this execution now. Go ahead, I’m finished.” The Texas Department of Corrections disputed his claim.
